Next New Officials Institute March 15th in Lawton,
Two New June Dates Added

March 2, 2018

On March 15th OML will host a New Officials Institute at the Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton. Throughout the year OML provides an intensive educational program specifically tailored for newly elected and appointed officials as well as experienced officials who want to keep up-to-date on municipal issues. Also, two new dates for June have been added. June 14th at Rose State College in Midwest City and June 28th at Tulsa Tech, Lemley Campus in Tulsa.

The NOI teaches the statutorily required topics such as Municipal Budget Requirements, the Oklahoma Open Meeting Act, the Oklahoma Open Records Act, Ethics, Procedures for Conducting Meetings, Conflict of Interest, and Purchasing Procedures

State law requires each person elected to a position within a municipality for the first time, on or after January 1, 2005, OR appointed for the first time on or after July 1, 2006, to attend an institute for municipal officials. The statute is codified at Title 11 O.S., Section 8-114.  For future dates or more information and registration, see the NOI page on our website.

You don't have to be newly elected to attend. Everyone is welcome! If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Lingenfelter at OML.
