OML Community Leadership Development Class 7 travels to Guthrie for Session 3

August 12, 2018

Continuing with their Community Leadership Development (CLD), class 7 travelled to Guthrie recently for their 3rd session of the year, which focused on economic development trends and its impact on communities.

The class, which is made up of community leaders from across the state, met at the Oklahoma Territorial Museum, where City Manager Leroy Alsup greeted them for a reception and tour of the museum, hosted by the Friends of the Guthrie Museum Complex. Also attending and speaking to the class was Mayor Steven Gentling.

While touring the museum, the class learned that it houses one of the original Oklahoma state flags, and the United States flag with the Oklahoma 46th star added.

During the next morning session, the class met at the Sports Museum where Alsup presented information on the economic development status of Guthrie.  Additional comments were made by Tourism Director, Justin Fortney and Planning Director, Rebecca Blaine.

Guest speakers for the session were Deidre Ebrey, Economic Development Manager, City of Moore and Jeff Seymour, Director of Business Development, Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce.

Cheryl Adams, OML Programs Manager and CLD coordinator, said that the time spent in Guthrie was fun, interesting and informative.  “The class members loved being in Guthrie, where they experienced all the Oklahoma history and charm the town has to offer.  We want to thank all those who helped to make this a great session,” Adams said.
